DESCRIPTION
TankCare IGS is a potent, alkaline tank cleaner specifically designed for effective Inert Gas Systems soot (IGS) cleaning on tanks. It’s a highly concentrated formula containing powerful biodegradable detergents, surfactants, and corrosion inhibitors.
Beyond IGS cleaning, TankCare IGS can also be used for cleaning animal, vegetable oils and fats, mineral oils, petroleum products, greases, waxes, sludge, carbon deposits, dirt, and grime. It’s compatible with most painted surfaces and works well in various water conditions. It dries leaving a good shine.
APPLICATION
TankCare IGS is suitable for cleaning stainless steel and epoxy coated tanks from Inert Gas Soot. It’s also applicable for engine room and deck cleaning and degreasing, reducing the need for multiple cleaning detergents onboard.
USE AND DOSING
Instructions are based on experience and are meant only as a guide since circumstances for each tank cleaning operation vary. They are not intended to interfere with the judgment of the vessel’s responsible personnel.
Before tank cleaning: Ensure tanks and lines are thoroughly stripped and drained. Avoid excessive heating as it can alter cargo characteristics and potentially burn cargo on the bulkhead. Consult cargo specifications. Precleaning tanks with high-pressure warm water is strongly recommended to remove large oil or residue deposits, ensuring a thorough cleaning operation. For drying or semi-drying oils, prewash with cold water immediately after cargo discharge to prevent hard residue formation.
Direct Injection with Recirculation: Prepare a 0.1-5.0% solution of TankCare IGS in tank washing machines (1-50 liters per ton of wash water). Stronger solutions may be necessary for heavily contaminated surfaces, up to 8%. Recirculate the solution at 65-70oC for 2-8 hours, depending on cargo and tank size. One solution can typically clean 3-4 tanks. Rinse tanks with warm seawater at 55-60oC for 1-3 hours. Finally, flush tanks with freshwater to remove salts, mop, and dry.
For optimal results, avoid using the entire quantity of TankCare IGS for the initial solution. Reserve some for boosting cleaning efficiency by adding a drum of fresh chemical before starting a new tank.
For remaining stains, apply undiluted TankCare IGS directly to the stained area, let it soak, and then rinse with water.
High Pressure Cleaning: Use high-pressure cleaning equipment to spray TankCare IGS onto the surface, mixing 1 liter per 4 liters of water. For hand sprayers, apply 1 liter of undiluted TankCare IGS per 12 m2. Allow the solution to penetrate for 30-45 minutes, then wash off thoroughly with high-pressure fresh water heated to 80oC. Ensure complete removal before chemicals dry. Repeat if necessary.
General Cleaning: Use conventional cleaning methods like brushes, hand sprayers, and high/low-pressure washing machines. The solution strength depends on the level of contamination. Apply the solution, allow it to penetrate, and avoid allowing chemicals to dry on the surface. Wash off thoroughly and repeat if necessary.
PRODUCT PROPERTIES
Concentrated product is incompatible with aluminum, zinc, tin and their alloys. For zinc silicate coatings use Alkaliquid Safety. It is recommended to test all cleaning chemicals on a small area of tank coating, before full scale application.
