Hydrocarbon free cleaning

Apply TankCare Neutral after hydrocarbon cleaning processes to achieve gas-free results. It’s suitable for zinc-silicate coatings and most metal surfaces, including ferrous alloys, tin, zinc, aluminum, and galvanized surfaces. For epoxy coatings, use diluted TankCare Neutral at temperatures not exceeding 60oC.

Instructions are based on experience and are meant only as a guide since circumstances for each tank cleaning operation vary. They are not intended to interfere with the judgment of the vessel’s responsible personnel.

Before tank cleaning, prewash tanks with hot water at 50oC for non-drying oils. For drying and semi-drying oils, pre-clean with cold water immediately after cargo discharge to prevent oil residue oxidation and hardening.

Recirculation: Prepare the chemical solution in an empty slop tank or after tank near the pump room. Recirculate the solution using the automatic tank washing system pump and heater to the tank to be cleaned, returning the solution to the slop tank via the stripping line. In some ships, a temporary connection may be necessary between the slop tank, tank washing pump, and tank washing system heater to maintain the chemical solution’s temperature. Carefully calculate the capacities of the slop tank, pipelines, pumps, etc., to ensure sufficient volumetric quantity for continuous recirculation. Due to the limitations of this method, typically only three tanks can be cleaned effectively with one chemical solution. A fresh chemical solution should be prepared and heated before continuing cleaning. Recirculate TankCare Neutral as a 5% solution for 2-6 hours at 35-60oC. Avoid using the entire initial solution; reserve some for boosting cleaning efficiency by adding a drum of fresh chemical before starting a new tank. After recirculation, thoroughly rinse the tanks with water. For remaining stains, apply undiluted TankCare Neutral directly to the stained area, let it soak, and then rinse with water.

Hand Spraying: Spray undiluted TankCare Neutral onto surfaces using a brush or spraying equipment. Thoroughly soak the tank surfaces and let the product act for at least 30 minutes. Rinse all tank surfaces with water at a maximum of 60oC for 45-60 minutes.

Suitable for zinc-silicate coatings and most common metals. On epoxy coatings the product should be used diluted, with temperatures that do not exceed 60oC. It is recommended to test all cleaning chemicals on a small area of tank coating, before full scale application.
