DESCRIPTION

Tankpol is a blend of surfactants and neutral salts, designed to safely remove metal oxide stains from zinc-silicate coated tank surfaces. This water-based, eco-friendly product is non-flammable, free of hydrocarbon solvents, and biodegradable.

APPLICATION

Tankpol is ideal for final cleaning when cargo residues need to be removed or when tanks must be completely free of chlorides or sulphides before shipping pure chemicals. It is perfect for hydrocarbon-freeing of tanks and is safe on all tank coatings, including zinc silicate. However, it is not recommended for machine washing due to its high foaming properties.

USE AND DOSING

Instructions are based on experience and are meant only as a guide since circumstances for each tank cleaning operation vary. They are not intended to interfere with the judgment of the vessel’s responsible personnel.

Recirculation: This is the most economical method. Prepare a solution with a strength of approximately 2–5% in preferably fresh water. Recirculate using tank cleaning machines. If possible, heat the cleaning solution to 50–80^oC. Rinse off with hot fresh water.

Hand Spraying: The product can be applied by hand-spraying on the tank, using a 20–50% solution in fresh water. Allow the chemicals to remain on the tank surface, then rinse with hot water. Once the tank is cleaned to a “water white standard,” remove any free water and ventilate until dry.

General Cleaning: Apply Tankpol undiluted or diluted in fresh water, similar to any common liquid soap, using conventional methods such as a brush, sponge, or mop.

PRODUCT PROPERTIES

Suitable for zinc-silicate coatings and most common metals. On epoxy coatings the product should be used diluted, with temperatures that do not exceed 60^oC. It is recommended to test all cleaning chemicals on a small area of tank coating, before full scale application.
